About SRMC
Sri Ramachandra Medical Centre is a tertiary care referral hospital in Chennai accredited by both Joint commission international (JCI) and NABH. Sri Ramachandra University is accredited by NAAC and is the most sought after private Medical College in the state of Tamil Nadu. The Paediatric ICU was started in 2000 and has grown to a 23 bedded PICU now. It has been accredited as Level III PICU by Indian College of Paediatric Critical Care. Our neonatal unit is a 60 bedded unit with 22 intensive care beds and is the first NICU to get level IIIB NNF accreditation in India with facilities including HFO, Nitric Oxide and ECMO.
About Workshop
There is a significant increase in the availability of mechanical ventilation facility in several hospitals, both private and government in India, in recent years. Though there were workshops held in the past on ventilation, they were either exclusive neonatal or PICU workshops meant for specialists. There was a need to have a dedicated hands-on workshop which covers both neonatal and paediatric basic ventilation as most practitioners in tier 2 cities in our country do both. SRMC Paediatric and Neonatal Ventilation Workshop was started in 2009, keeping this objective in mind. From 1 day workshop with 20 registrants in 2009, it has grown tremendously in popularity. Currently the workshop is held twice a year with Online Lectures on weekends for 1 month followed by Hands-on Sessions for 2 days which emphasizes on Basic ventilation as well as introduces the concepts of Advanced ventilation.
